Polymarket Builders Program (2026): Builder Codes, Tiers and Rewards

Polymarket Builders Program (2026): Builder Codes, Tiers and Rewards

The Short Answer

A Polymarket builder is anyone who routes users' orders to Polymarket through their own app, and the Builders Program gives them gasless relayer transactions, order attribution and the option to charge a builder fee of up to 1% on taker orders and 0.5% on maker orders. Attribution runs through a bytes32 builder code written into each signed order. Tiers set the daily relayer allowance at 100, 10,000 or unlimited transactions, and Verified builders can also receive weekly rewards and grants, subject to approval. The builder leaderboard is public at https://data-api.polymarket.com/v2/builders/leaderboard, and on 3 October 2026 it ranked 246 builders for the week.

Key Takeaways

  • A builder code is part of the signed order, so attribution appears in the on-chain OrderFilled event.
  • Builder fees stack on top of Polymarket's platform fee, capped at 100 bps for takers and 50 bps for makers.
  • A fee rate can change once every 7 days, takes effect 3 days after it is scheduled, and only one change can be pending.
  • Unverified builders get 100 relayer transactions a day, Verified 10,000 and Partner unlimited.
  • The leaderboard and every builder's fee rates are public reads that need no key.

What is the Polymarket Builders Program?

Polymarket's docs call it the Builder Program, and define a builder as "a person, group, or organization that routes orders from users to Polymarket." Trading apps, terminals and bots that place orders for their users all qualify. The program covers gas for wallet deployment, approvals and position operations through Polymarket's relayer, credits each matched order that carries the builder's code to its profile, and lets builders charge a fee on the flow they route.

You join with a polymarket.com account that serves as your builder account. It owns two different things. The builder code is public and goes on orders. The Builder API key, secret and passphrase are private credentials for relayer work such as deploying Deposit Wallets for your users, and they stay on your server. Keys and gasless transactions are covered in the Polymarket Relayer API guide.

How do Polymarket builder codes work?

A builder code is a 32-byte hex value assigned to your profile under Settings, then Builders, on polymarket.com. It is a field of the signed order struct rather than an off-chain label, so it must be set before the order is signed. Each settlement contract emits it in its OrderFilled event, on the CTF Exchange, the Neg Risk CTF Exchange and the Polymarket Protocol V2 Exchange, which makes attribution verifiable on-chain. The maker and taker of one trade can carry different codes, and each builder earns its own rate on its own side.

With the official TypeScript SDK, pass the code as builderCode. We type-checked this against @polymarket/client 0.12.0:

import { createSecureClient, OrderSide } from "@polymarket/client";
import { privateKey } from "@polymarket/client/viem";

const client = await createSecureClient({
  wallet: process.env.POLYMARKET_WALLET_ADDRESS!,
  signer: privateKey(process.env.PRIVATE_KEY!),
});

const order = await client.placeLimitOrder({
  assetId: "YOUR_TOKEN_ID",
  side: OrderSide.BUY,
  price: "0.52",
  size: "10",
  builderCode: process.env.POLYMARKET_BUILDER_CODE,
});

console.log(order);

Without the SDK, set the order's builder field to your code in place of its 32-byte zero default, then sign. Orders carrying a disabled code are rejected by the CLOB. To confirm credit, GET /builder/trades?builder_code= on the CLOB is a public read that lists matched trades with a builderFee field.

The same code can attribute deposits and withdrawals through the Bridge API's optional X-Builder-Code header. Polymarket Perps has builder fields in its API too, but as of its 27 September 2026 release, attribution there is switched off and returns builder_codes_disabled.

What are the Polymarket builder tiers?

FeatureUnverifiedVerifiedPartner
Daily relayer transactions10010,000Unlimited
API rate limitsStandardStandardHighest
Gasless trading and order attributionYesYesYes
Leaderboard visibilityNoYesYes
Private Telegram channelNoYesYes
Engineering and marketing supportNoStandardElevated
Priority access to new productsNoNoYes

Relayer requests beyond the daily limit are rate limited and return an error. Verified builders can also receive weekly USDC rewards based on volume, plus grants, both subject to approval. Polymarket's tier table marks builder fees as available on every tier, while its Verified section lists fee monetization among the upgrade's unlocks, so confirm with Polymarket before you plan around fee revenue as an Unverified builder. If you trade only your own wallet and route no users, a Relayer API key gives you unlimited daily relay transactions without a builder tier.

How much can Polymarket builders charge?

Builder fee settingDefaultMaximum
Taker fee rate0 bps100 bps (1%)
Maker fee rate0 bps50 bps (0.5%)
Granularity1 bp (0.01%)

A builder fee is a flat share of notional, notional * bps / 10000, so a 1,000 pUSD taker buy through a builder charging 100 bps pays 10 pUSD. It stacks on top of Polymarket's platform fee, which is taker-only and set per market, so a user on a fee-enabled market pays both. Changes are gated so users can see them coming: one rate change per 7 days, effective 3 days after it is scheduled, with only one pending change at a time. Earned fees go to the wallet tied to your builder profile, and Polymarket can revoke fee rights for activity it judges not to be bona fide.

Fee rates are public. GET https://clob.polymarket.com/fees/builder-fees/{code} returns builder_maker_fee_rate_bps, builder_taker_fee_rate_bps and enabled, and an unknown code returns 404. Across the 567 builders on the all-time leaderboard on 3 October 2026, 339 charged no taker fee, 122 charged the 100 bps taker maximum and 114 the 50 bps maker maximum. A few codes reported rates above the documented caps, so read a builder's live rate rather than assuming the cap.

How do you get the Polymarket builder leaderboard from the API?

The Data API serves it publicly, with no key:

EndpointReturns
GET /v2/builders/leaderboardOne ranked row per builder for a time_period of day, week, month or all
GET /v2/builders/volumeEach builder's volume in daily, weekly, monthly or yearly buckets

Each leaderboard row carries rank, builder_name, builder_code, profile_image, verified, volume and active_users. Volume is counted in shares, not dollars, and active_users counts distinct makers in the window. Key on builder_code, because names are display data. This pulls the weekly top 10 with each builder's live fee rates, with Node 18 or newer:

const board = await (
  await fetch('https://data-api.polymarket.com/v2/builders/leaderboard?time_period=week&limit=10')
).json();

const rows = [];
for (const b of board.data) {
  const fees = await (await fetch(`https://clob.polymarket.com/fees/builder-fees/${b.builder_code}`)).json();
  rows.push({
    rank: b.rank,
    builder: b.builder_name,
    volume: Math.round(b.volume),
    activeUsers: b.active_users,
    takerBps: fees.builder_taker_fee_rate_bps,
    makerBps: fees.builder_maker_fee_rate_bps,
  });
}

console.table(rows);

Deeper pages come from pagination.next_cursor, and a cursor stays pinned to the window it was created for. Allow up to 24 hours for matched volume to reach the board.

In our checks on 3 October 2026, the weekly board listed 246 builders, every one marked verified, and the top 10 held about 65% of the week's volume. Polymarket keeps builder profiles and fee rates public on purpose, so users can see what a builder charges before using its app. Pulling the trader rankings instead is covered in the Polymarket leaderboard API guide.

How do you apply or upgrade as a Polymarket builder?

  1. Create a builder profile. On polymarket.com, open Settings, then Builders. You start as Unverified right away, with no approval needed.
  2. Integrate. Generate API keys with "+ Create New", attach your builder code to orders and use the relayer for gasless wallet operations.
  3. Build volume. Route orders and show consistent usage.
  4. Apply for Verified. Email builder@polymarket.com with your Builder API key, use case, expected volume and any links or decks. Polymarket says it responds within a few business days.

Verification status is displayed in your builder profile settings. Partner is the enterprise tier for high-volume integrations and strategic partners. Approved builders can also request Combo quotes for their users through Polymarket's Builder Gateway.

If your app shows Polymarket next to other venues, the Predictefy API serves its markets alongside 15+ other venues in one normalized schema.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Polymarket builder code?

A 32-byte hex identifier assigned to your builder profile. You attach it to each order before signing, it is stored in the signed order and emitted in the on-chain OrderFilled event, and matched volume is credited to your profile.

How much can Polymarket builders charge in fees?

Up to 100 bps (1%) on taker orders and 50 bps (0.5%) on maker orders, as a flat share of notional on top of Polymarket's platform fee. A builder can change its rates once every 7 days, with 3 days' notice.

How do you become a verified Polymarket builder?

Create a builder profile to start as Unverified, then email builder@polymarket.com with your Builder API key, use case and expected volume. Polymarket reviews applications and says it responds within a few business days.

Is there a public API for the Polymarket builder leaderboard?

Yes. GET /v2/builders/leaderboard on the Data API needs no key and ranks builders by volume in shares for a day, week, month or all time. GET /v2/builders/volume returns each builder's volume over time.

Do Polymarket builders get rewards?

Verified builders can receive weekly USDC rewards based on volume, plus grants, both subject to approval. Any builder fees they charge are separate and go to the wallet tied to their profile.

Is a builder code the same as a Builder API key?

No. The builder code is public and goes on orders for attribution. The Builder API key, secret and passphrase are private credentials for relayer operations such as deploying Deposit Wallets, and they belong on your server.
